Obituario Projecto
In this project, we wrote an obituary about a loved one that was in our life that has since passed. For this project, I decided to write about my friend Peter who died in November 2017, at the age of eleven.

We also wrote a Calavera about whomever we wanted, and I chose to write about billy la bufanda, because he is so much of an inspiration to me I wrote the poem as a joke, but I think that it came out pretty well.

Mi Frida Es Bob Ross
In this Spanish project, we decided on a role model or interesting person that we were going to paint and write about in the style of Frida Kahlo. We started off by studying Frida and reading about her, as well as watching a movie biography about her life. This helped us to better understand that art that she made, and try to interpret the messages behind them, based on her life. We then chose a specific Frida painting to essentially copy and then painted our "Frida" or the role model that we picked onto the face of our copy of the original. The painting that I chose to imitate is shown left with the reference photo of Bob Ross>. My final painting is shown at the bottom along with my artist statement v.
I think that the reason that Frida Kahlo Painted so many self-portraits was that she had a very interesting, and in many ways, a very difficult life. Painting herself in the form that she was at that time might have been very therapeutic for her, or maybe it helped her to deal with the world. I do not think that my painting did any justice to the original by Frida Kahlo, because it doesn't look very lifelike, or show any emotions. However, I think that I tied in some of the more minor details very well, such as the paintbrush necklace. In all honesty, I didn't expect much out of this painting, as I clearly don't have very much artistic ability, but I do think that it looks a little bit more lifelike than I expected. Finally, I have never really been interested in the story of Frida Kahlo, but after studying her and her works, I have found myself slightly more engaged and interested in her story, and her works of art. It is fascinating how much she went through, and how, after learning that, you can go back and look at her art, and see her struggles bleeding through the paint. It is truly amazing how well she was able to transfer her emotions onto the page.
Receta Projecto
Over the course of this project, Chris and I partnered together to translate a recipe for a traditional Mexican dish, called Tacos Al Pastor (seen below), we then made a video displaying us cooking the actual recipe, which we then edited and did voice-overs to explain, in Spanish, how to cook the dish (seen right). Overall, it was a very fun experience, and I very much enjoyed making and eating the dish, as well as creating the video afterwards.
